Your Royal West Indies Guide to a Perfect Island Escape

Know the Currency and Money Matters The U.S. dollar is the official currency of the Turks and Caicos Islands. While most restaurants and shops accept major credit cards, it’s a good idea to bring some cash for smaller purchases, tips, and vendors at local markets. ATMs are available, but it’s often best to arrive with the cash you think youโ€™ll need.

2. What to Pack Providenciales is all about a relaxed, “resort casual” vibe. Your suitcase should be filled with lightweight, breathable clothing like shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, and flowy jumpsuits. For evenings, a few “resort elegant” outfits for a nice dinner are perfect.

    • Beach Essentials: Don’t forget your swimsuits, a wide-brimmed hat, and polarized sunglasses. Most importantly, pack reef-safe sunscreen to protect our vibrant marine environment. The island sun is strong, so you’ll want to apply it generously.

    • Footwear: Pack flip-flops or sandals for the beach and a comfortable pair of walking sandals or shoes for exploring. You can leave the heels at homeโ€”cute flats are all youโ€™ll need for evening outings.

    • Don’t worry about: The Royal West Indies Resort provides in-room hair dryers, and our suites with kitchenettes or full kitchens mean you can save on dining out by preparing some meals yourself.

3. Power and Connectivity The electrical outlets in the Turks and Caicos are the same as in the U.S. and Canada (110-120 volts, 60 cycles), so you won’t need a power adapter for your devices. Free Wi-Fi is available in our public areas, and many of our suites offer free wired or wireless internet access.

Your Arrival & Getting Around

From the Airport to Our Doorstep Providenciales International Airport (PLS) is a quick and easy drive to the resort. The most common and convenient way to get to Royal West Indies is by taxi. You’ll find a line of taxis just outside the airport’s main exit. Taxis often operate on a shared basis, which is a great way to meet fellow travelers. A private shuttle or rental car are also excellent options.

A Quick Note on Driving: If you plan on renting a car to explore the island, remember that we drive on the left side of the road!

On-Island Transportation For getting around Grace Bay, you have several options. The resort’s central location means you can easily walk to nearby shops and restaurants. A key benefit of being a guest here is the complimentary use of our bicycles. This is a fantastic way to cruise along the scenic roads and explore the Grace Bay area at your own pace. For longer trips, taxis are readily available, or you can book a tour or shuttle through our front desk.
